nPerf Study Report Finds Faiba Is Kenya’s Fastest Fixed Home Internet Service Provider (ISP) Ahead Of Safaricom, Zuku, Telkom Kenya, and Mawingu.

Earlier this afternoon I received the nPerf Barometer of fixed Internet connections in Kenya study report for the period H2 2021 to H1 2022 (1st July 2021 to 30th June 2022). The nPerf study is based on the tests carried out by nPerf app users in Kenya based on 59,678 tests.

According to the nPerf report, Faiba is the fastest fixed Internet Service Provider in Kenya when compared to Safaricom, Zuku, Telkom Kenya, and Mawingu (Liquid Intelligent Technologies was not included since they are not a home Internet service provider). Details can be seen below:

In terms of actual speed tests, Safaricom represents the vast majority of the tests selected for nPerf’s panel, with more than 58% whilst Mawingu and Telkom Kenya had the smallest percentages as seen below:

In terms of download speeds, Faiba had the best average broadband download speeds of 41 Mb/s followed by Zuku with 23 Mb/s, Safaricom with 21 Mb/s, Telkom Kenya with 16 Mb/s, and Mawingu with 10 Mb/s as seen below:

In terms of download bitrates, Faiba had the best performance since October 2021 and is consistently above 25 Mb/s as seen below:

In terms of upload speeds, Faiba was once again the fastest with 25 Mb/s followed by Safaricom with 19 Mb/s, Telkom Kenya with 17 Mb/s, Zuku with 16 Mb/s, and Mawingu with 11 Mb/s as seen below:

In terms of latencies, Faiba once again had the best performance with the shortest time of 29 ms, followed by Safaricom with 43 ms, Mawingu with 44 ms, Zuku with 45 ms, and finally Telkom Kenya with 51 m/s as seen below:

Lastly, the nPerf score from the study is expressed in nPoints which gives an overall picture of the quality of a connection. It takes into account the measured bitrates (2/3 Download + 1/3 Upload) and the latency. These values are calculated on a logarithmic scale to better represent the perception of the user. as seen below, Faiba had the best nPerf score followed by Safaricom, Zuku, Telkom Kenya, and then Mwaingu as seen below:
